242011001 Adaptive Defrost Control

Adaptive defrost control 242011001, is used on Kenmore, Frigidaire, White Westinghouse, Gibson, Kelvinator, and some other brand refrigerators.

 

Adaptive defrost controls are used to conserve energy over the old timer defrost system by turning the defrost heater on only when it is necessary. For example, if you are on vacation and the door to your refrigerator is not opened for a week, there will not be any frost to remove from the evaporator. Under the old defrost timer system, the heater would come on twice a day no matter what.
