279769 Dryer Thermal Fuse and Thermostat Kit

Dryer thermal fuse and thermostat kit 279769, is used on Whirlpool, Kenmore, Roper, Estate, KitchenAid and Maytag as well as some other brand dryers.

 

This kit consists of a high limit thermostat part # 3390291, and a thermal fuse part # 3977394, and installation instructions. Both thermostats must be replaced as a pair. In other words, if your high limit thermostat is defective on your dryer, but your thermal fuse is okay, you must still install both parts. This is to ensure that both the high limit thermostat and the thermal fuse work together to keep the operating temperature of the dryer within the manufacturers recommendations.

 

On dryers where the lint screen is located on the top of the dryer, the thermal fuse and high limit thermostat will be located on the burner box behind the rear access panel. On Maytag brand dryers where the heater is located on the base under the drum, the high limit thermostat and thermal fuse will be mounted to the outside of the metal frame that supports the dryer heating element.
