285852A Washer Motor Coupler

Commercial grade motor coupler 285852A, is used on Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Kenmore, Estate, Roper and some Maytag top load washers. It is the connection between the motor and transmission of direct-drive washing machines manufactured by Whirlpool.

 

This coupler replaces the regular duty coupler part # 285753A. When comparing prices keep in mind that the 285852A is a heavy-duty commercial grade coupler.

 

Notice the beefed up middle section that connects the two hubs together that are equipped with metal inserts. This coupler is designed for extra heavy duty applications like laundromat washers.

How to install a washer direct drive motor coupler
Use a long heavy-duty screwdriver and split the remaining section of coupler off the motor and transmission. Clean the motor and transmission shafts with emery cloth and gently lubricate with grease or oil so that the coupler slides on easily. Use a nut driver or socket over the end to tap the coupler in place onto the shaft.
