How to remove coins under the baffles on Whirlpool and Kenmore Dryers
Safety First! Disconnect the dryer from the electrical supply
Coins that make it through the wash cycle often slide under the baffles inside the dryer. When this happens the dryer makes a clanging noise as the drum rotates. The baffles or paddles are use to tumble the clothes while the drum is turning.
Lift up the lint filter cover on the top and remove the 2 screws.
Facing the front of the dryer, use a very small flat blade screwdriver or spatula and place it between the tub and front panel. Push the spring-loaded clips to the rear and lift the top up and lean it against the wall. The clips are located to the far left and right in the narrow opening between the top and front panel.
Open the dryer door and use the baffles to turn the drum clockwise until the baffle screws are on the top.
DO NOT TURN THE DRUM COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Doing so could cause the belt to come off the motor and idler pulley!
Remove the screws and lower the baffle to extract the coins and other debris.
When replacing the screws do not over tighten them.
