Do you use fabric softener sheets?
Did you know that the use of fabric softener sheets in a dryer can actually plug up the holes on the lint screen? Especially on this dryer filter 131450300 because the holes are very small. To check your lint filter, remove it from the dryer and take it over to the sink. Place it under cold running water and see if the water passes right through the screen. If the water is restricted from going through the screen, the screen is probably plugged up with a fabric softener. Use warm water and a mild brush to clean it.

Why you should clean your dryer lint filter after every load.
The reason that your lint screen should be cleaned after every load is to prevent lint from bypassing the filter and winding up in the blower or in the dryer vent. When a lint screen is covered with dryer lint its ability to let air pass through is diminished. If a dryer lint screen is not cleaned after a load has finished, the lint from the next load can migrate past it right in to the dryer vent system.

Lint screens mounted in the front by the dryer door.
This type of dryer lint screen should be cleaned after every load. Because it is located just inside the door in the filter housing, it is very easy for a lint buildup to be dragged off the filter when it is pulled up. Therefore you can be fooled into thinking there’s not much lint because when you take it out it’s relatively clean. Unless there is a vent restriction, there will always be lint on the filter screen at the end of a drying cycle.

What does it cost to dry a load of laundry at home.
Using a dryer at home to dry clothes is not as expensive as you might think. Assuming of course that your dryer is working properly, your vent is clear of all restrictions, and your washer is spinning the water out of the clothes properly. All those factors determine the cost of drying a load of clothes at home. So let’s assume for now that your washer is working fine, your vent is clear, and that your dryer is in normal working condition.

The cost of drying clothes in your dryer.
It is difficult to determine what the exact electrical consumption of your dryer because there are a lot of factors. The wattage of your dryer’s electrical element can be between 4000 to 5000 watts. Assuming now that the average cost per kilowatt hour of electricity is 10 cents, we can then conclude that the cost of drying a typical load of laundry at home is about 40 cents. Heavier clothes take longer to dry and cost a little more but still the average cost of drying a load of clothes at home is still about 40 cents.
