How gas dryers work.
When power is applied to the ignitor it starts to glow hot. The heat from the ignitor heats the flame sensor to a point sufficient to allow gas to ignite. At that temperature, the heat flexes a bimetal in the sensor opening the circuit. Once the circuit is open to the sensor, power is applied to the secondary coil of the coil kit. Current passing through the coil creates an electromagnetic field opening the valve, allowing the gas to flow and ignite in the burner assembly. |
