With the holiday season creeping up on us again, it is
important to give those appliances the tender, love, and care they deserve so
you’ll be able to entertain worry free! Follow these tips in order to get your
appliances ready this December holiday season.
1. Maintain Your Oven
Self-Cleaning: If your oven contains a self-cleaning
cycle, it is important to implement this every once in a while when you feel
your oven needs a nice deep clean. The self- cleaning cycle is heated at a high
temperature that causes the food to soil inside the oven, decompose, and turn
into ashes.
2. Oven Thermostat
Oven Thermostat: If you haven’t done so already, now
would be the perfect time to make sure the oven thermostat is operating efficiently.
That last thing you want is a frozen ham or turkey for the holidays.
3. Refrigerator Tips
Door Gasket/Seal: Winter is actually the perfect
season to take care of your refrigerator. Some refrigerator models contain
vents that need to be maintained regularly. Clean the door seal/gasket, the
drain, and the drain pan are all parts that need regular maintenance.
Outdoor Refrigerator: Make sure your outdoor
refrigerator is cleaned out and unplugged. Refrigerators are not able to
sustain cold outdoor temperatures. If you do plan on keeping your refrigerator
plugged it you increase the likelihood of the water and ice lines freezing and
the refrigerator will have a difficult time keep the content inside at a proper
temperature.
4. Safeguard Your Dryer
Dryer Lint Vent: Check your dryer for lint clogs. A buildup
of lint can cause a fire!
Lint Screen: Also be sure to thoroughly clean the lint screen once a week. Remove the lint screen completely and clear out all of the lingering lint particles!
