How often do you clean your coffee maker? It tends to be one
of those things that get ignored, even though for many of us, it is used every
single day. Learn how to best clean your coffee maker and how often you should
be doing it in order to keep each brew fresh.
Turns out, your coffee machine should be cleaned at least
once a month, and more often than that if you brew more than one pot a day or
if you have particularly hard water. Every time coffee gets brewed, tiny
amounts of debris from the beans and anything in your water builds up in the
machine. If left too long, this build-up can become noticeable in the taste of
your coffee- yuck!
But don’t fret; thoroughly cleaning the coffee machine is
easy and quick.
Fill the reservoir (where you would normally put water) half
with white vinegar and half with water. Run it through as though you were
making a normal pot. Dump the vinegar mixture from the pot, and repeat the
process but this time with just water. You will most likely have to run it
twice or three times to make sure all the vinegar is rinsed off.
Make sure to not re-use your coffee filters, as this
increases the build-up and will also result in your coffee tasting differently.
And that’s it! Your next brew will be pure and fresh- enjoy!
