Maintaining a washer can be quite difficult, even when you didn’t know you had to maintain them. Front loading washing machines have grown fairly popular because of their gentle cycle on clothing and their efficient use of water and energy. To keep from buying a new front load washing machine, here are a few tips to keep the machine maintained and lasting longer.
Tips to maintain the Front-Load washing machine:
Always use High Efficiency (HE) detergent - use the minimum amount of detergent as needed. Other detergents produce more soap suds which can create a film over time in the drum and hoses. This is a major factor that leads to mold and can damage the machine as well.
Stay clear or use less fabric softener - less product is needed in HE machines.
Remove laundry immediately - damp clothes leads to musty mildew smells and mold if sitting in the washing machine for too long.
Leave the door open - leaving the door cracked open when not in use since it can supply more air circulation.
Clean monthly- pour distilled white vinegar and a cup of baking soda into the drum and run it on its hottest cycle. Use an extra rinse cycle as well
Use the correct cycle for the correct load - don’t use a heavier cycle when there isn’t a lot of laundry within the drum. This can increase the wear and tear within the machine making the longevity of the appliance shorter.
Follow these few tips and keep the front loading washing machines maintained for years to come.
