What causes my washer to stop spinning? The washer agitator makes the clothes spin and turn inside the washer. If your washing machine is no longer spinning or turning, then you may have to replace the agitator or use the repair kit depending on the issue. If the top part of the agitator is not working correctly, then it may be a cam issue. There are many parts that may cause your agitator from not working, such as the agitator dogs, so before replacing the whole agitator try moving it and see if it moves or if there is anything physically wrong with it.
