DIY Dishwasher Maintenance Tips

Although you own a sink having a dishwasher in your home just makes life a lot easier. Your dishwasher cleans dishes and utensils automatically saving yourself a lot of time. However, there are times when the dishwasher fails us and we are forced to have a repair. To prevent this from happening follow these maintenance tips to maximize the efficiency of your dishwasher.

1.       Clean and Deodorize the Interior

You should clean your dishwasher periodically.

·         Clean the interior of the dishwasher tub with a dishwasher cleaning agent

·         Clean the spray arms with a warm rag

·         Also wipe down the dishwasher door seal/door gasket

2.       Clean the Filter

Some dishwasher models contain a filter located at the bottom or under the lower spray arm. Be sure to clean this filter on a regular basis.

3.       Repair dish racks

Over time your dishracks can have display wear and tear on them.

·         Check the tine racks in order to figure out if you need to purchase tine clips to hold the tine in place on the dishwasher

·         Paint can flake off of your dishrack. Purchase touch up paint to cover up the marks on the dishrack

4.       Don’t overload it

Overloading your dishwasher can actually damage it. If your dishwasher has reached its maximum capacity consider running two small loads instead. Running smaller loads can decrease the likelihood of water spray patterns on your tuppwear and will reduce the chance of having to rewash your tupperwear.
